Challenges

As Precise expanded its technology portfolio, the company needed an infrastructure that could support multiple products, business units and development initiatives while maintaining consistency, governance and cost control.

At the same time, Precise was looking beyond cloud modernization toward its next stage of innovation: embedding AI directly into its products and operational workflows.

Key challenges included:

• Managing a growing AWS environment spanning approximately 26 accounts, multiple products and organizational units.
• Establishing consistent architecture and Infrastructure as Code standards across different environments and workloads.
• Supporting ongoing DevOps requirements without maintaining a dedicated internal DevOps organization.
• Maintaining visibility and control over cloud consumption and costs across multiple products.
• Modernizing key Lawyal platforms while managing complex application and data requirements.
• Identifying practical AI use cases that could deliver meaningful value within existing products rather than remaining isolated proofs of concept.
• Creating the architecture required to move AI initiatives from experimentation toward production.

Precise needed a technology partner capable of supporting the entire journey, from cloud foundation and day-to-day operations to modernization, data and AI transformation.

Solution

Commit became an extension of Precise’s technology organization, providing ongoing expertise across Cloud, DevOps, FinOps, modernization, data and AI.

Commit designed and continues to support Precise’s AWS Landing Zone, providing the governance foundation for approximately 26 AWS accounts. This was complemented by organization-wide Infrastructure as Code standards, end-to-end cloud architecture and an ongoing DevOps retainer supporting Precise and its different products and business units.

Commit also provides continuous FinOps monitoring and optimization, enabling Precise to better understand cloud consumption, allocate costs and optimize resources across its growing AWS environment.

With this foundation in place, the partnership expanded into modernization and AI, with a particular focus on the Lawyal platform.

Lawyal DMS: Bringing AI into Document Management

One of the flagship initiatives is the Lawyal DMS AI project, designed to enhance the document management experience with advanced AI capabilities.

Commit is helping Precise design and implement capabilities including:

• Intelligent document search and retrieval.
• Context-aware querying across organizational information.
• AI-powered interaction with existing documents and data.
• Architecture designed to integrate AI directly into the existing Lawyal environment.

Following successful initial validation, the initiative is now progressing toward production as an MVP, with the goal of becoming one of the first significant AI capabilities embedded directly into Precise’s operational product environment.

Lawyal Billing: Modernizing a Core Business Platform

Commit is also supporting the modernization of Lawyal Billing, combining cloud architecture, application modernization and data migration capabilities to strengthen a core component of the Lawyal ecosystem.

The project builds on the standardized cloud and DevOps foundation established across Precise, enabling the company to evolve critical systems while maintaining scalability, operational consistency and integration with its broader technology environment.

Beyond Lawyal, Commit and Precise are exploring additional AI initiatives around Firm Insights, including automating data mapping and analysis, generating business insights and enabling more advanced ways for customers to interact with their data.

The broader partnership has also included the design and delivery of products including Gaya, PreciseTODO and Ratatouille, demonstrating the ability to support Precise throughout the complete product lifecycle.

Results

• AI moving from POC to product: Commit and Precise have already completed two AI POCs, with an additional MVP progressing toward production, helping turn AI experimentation into practical product capabilities.
• AI embedded into Lawyal: The Lawyal DMS initiative is introducing intelligent search, retrieval and contextual querying directly into an existing operational platform rather than creating a standalone AI solution.
• Modernization of core Lawyal capabilities: Commit is supporting the evolution of Lawyal Billing through cloud modernization and data migration, creating a stronger foundation for continued product innovation.
• Approximately 26 AWS accounts governed: A standardized AWS Landing Zone provides centralized governance across Precise’s expanding cloud organization.
• One infrastructure approach across the organization: Standardized Infrastructure as Code supports multiple products, environments and AWS accounts while improving consistency and repeatability.
• End-to-end DevOps coverage: Commit operates as Precise’s external DevOps function, providing ongoing support across Precise, Firm Insights, Lawyal and additional initiatives without the need for a dedicated internal DevOps capability.
• Greater cloud cost visibility: Continuous FinOps monitoring, optimization and allocation provide Precise with better visibility and control over cloud consumption across products and business units.
• A partnership that scales with the business: What began with cloud architecture and governance has expanded into DevOps, FinOps, greenfield development, modernization, data and AI, with Commit effectively operating as an extension of Precise’s technology team.
