From Tool to Teammate: How AI Is Becoming the Operating System of Modern Organizations

AI is moving from isolated experiments to context-aware systems that actively shape decisions. That was the central theme of one of the most forward-looking panels at AI Week by Commit and Calcalist, in collaboration with Microsoft, where Alon Haimovich, GM Microsoft Israel, argued that AI is beginning to apply context-based judgment, not just prediction.

Joined by leaders from NVIDIA Israel, Bank Leumi, and Palantir, the discussion highlighted a clear shift. AI Agents are already entering core workflows in pharma, manufacturing, healthcare, and customer service, with NVIDIA predicting that in the future, every employee will work alongside an AI Agent. At the same time, Palantir stressed that none of this is possible without a unified digital representation of the business. Only when data is harmonized across systems can AI evolve from chatbots to real decision support.

Bank Leumi’s experience underscored an often overlooked truth. Successful AI adoption is as much about people and processes as it is about technology. Two-thirds of the work, they shared, was cultural and procedural transformation, with only one-third being pure tech. Continuous improvement, redesigned workflows, and a shared focus on customer impact are now essential.

Across the panel, the takeaway was clear. AI is no longer just a tool that sits on the side. It is rapidly becoming the operational layer of modern organizations, shaping how decisions are made, how work is done, and how value is created.
