Modern ERP, Redefined: JiBe’s Journey to Cloud-Native Excellence

About JiBe

JiBe Enterprise Software, Inc. is a US-based company that provides JiBe ERP, a web-based, cloud-native Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platform tailored to the maritime industry. The solution integrates core operational functions including accounting, procurement, crew management, technical operations, and commercial activities into a unified platform.

JiBe enables maritime organizations to leverage data collected across departments and processes without redundant data entry or siloed systems. This centralized approach reduces administrative workload across the organization, with some clients recording up to a 75% reduction in overhead, while improving decision-making and operational efficiency through built-in big data and AI-driven capabilities.

Challenges

Prior to its cloud transformation, JiBe operated from a single, local data center with traditional, monolithic applications running on virtual machines. This setup created limitations in scalability, security, and operational efficiency. JiBe needed a partner to help redesign and migrate its platform to AWS, modernize its application architecture, adopt infrastructure as code (IaaC), and implement CI/CD practices.

Key challenges included:

  • Migrating a complex mix of Microsoft and Linux-based workloads
  • Supporting a multi-tenant, multi-account SaaS architecture
  • Implementing scalable storage, backup, and recovery across customer environments
  • Centralizing management, monitoring, and cost control
  • Maintaining high availability (99.9%+ SLA) and disaster recovery readiness
  • Meeting security, compliance, and audit requirements across environments

Solution

Partnering with Commit, JiBe embarked on an 11-month migration and modernization journey to the AWS cloud. The architecture was reimagined and rebuilt to align with AWS Well-Architected principles, including full tenant isolation, automated deployments, and centralized observability.

Key solution components included:

  • Design and implementation of a secure Landing Zone using AWS Organizations
  • Infrastructure built across multiple Availability Zones with Transit Gateway connectivity
  • Migration of Windows IIS and .NET workloads to EC2 instances with Auto Scaling
  • Modernization of MSSQL databases into RDS, with long-term plans for PostgreSQL
  • Deployment automation via CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and Azure Repos
  • Centralized logs and monitoring using CloudWatch, Coralogix, and OpenSearch
  • Full encryption of data in transit and at rest via AWS KMS, Secrets Manager, and SSM
  • Identity federation using Azure AD with fine-grained IAM and RBAC controls
  • Managed backup strategies using AWS Backup and Commvault

Results

  • Cloud-Native SaaS Platform: JiBe now runs on a robust AWS-native architecture that supports both shared and dedicated customer environments with full security, automation, and scalability.
  • Operational Excellence: Through centralized logging, alerting, and CI/CD pipelines, JiBe has significantly improved its ability to monitor and respond to application and infrastructure issues.
  • Cost Visibility and Control: Tenant-based tagging and automation enable granular cost tracking and optimization across workloads, services, and customer environments.
  • Security & Compliance: Multi-layered security controls, identity isolation, and automated auditing help ensure adherence to international compliance and security standards.
  • Resilience & Availability: JiBe's platform is now architected for 99.95% data availability and rapid disaster recovery with defined RPO and RTO thresholds, ensuring business continuity at scale.
